Maintaining Perfect Balance Between Well-being and Productivity While Working from Home

As we shift our working from office desks to the comfort of our homes, one of the perks that we are enjoying is flexibility. However, this relaxation of rules could come across as a double edged sword. While we work and try to stay focused, we are also thinking about the daily chores in the house.

In order to keep the perfect balance between work from home and work-of-home, we have come up with few tips that will help you stay motivated even during these difficult times.1.

    1. Start Dressing up even for Work-from-Home.

What is your favorite outfit when you work remotely? Definitely pajamas, right? It just has to be, as you start to get to your level of comfort. Dressing is something that people do not worry about while working at home. But that is not the way it should be. You have to be ready for your job as you usually do. Casual attire or pajamas are great, and they give you comfort and a sense of freedom. However, wearing shorts may not help you stay productive if you wear it for 48 hours straight.

Our brains are programmed to take cues from our social and human appearance when we make a decision. When you dress up for your job, you give the mind a reason to do it. It’s like a real alarm that can keep you alert all day long.

    2. Set up a personal office space.

What is the best thing about working from home? Probably, the level of luxury. However, did you know that this comfort can come from loss of efficiency, productivity and focus. Since working from home is easy for many as they are able to work from their comfort zones, it is very difficult to resist the temptation to sleep with our unhealthy sleeping routine. By setting up your personal office space at home, you can let go of your laziness.

    3. Use highly efficient technology.

It becomes very irritating as you try to keep your focus while working and the Wi-Fi keeps on disconnecting or the desktop keeps lagging. These small triggers affect the overall productivity to a significant extent. Hence, it becomes necessary to get equipped with a technology that supports efficient working. Hindrance from technology should never be an excuse for low productivity.

    4. Keep track of your working hours.

Balance is a very important factor when working from home. Your private life is just as important as your professional life. You should always make a process of your working days and working hours. It should be arranged in such a way that you can easily follow it. If you plan to work 8 hours straight on a work day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., be sure to stick to your schedule. You may have days when you need to complete a lot of work; if possible, you may choose to contact your manager for an extension or you can extend your working day for that day as it is not considered for one day. But doing so daily can be dangerous, since working overtime can be stressful, both physically and mentally.

Few other things that you can try to make sure your productivity is not hampered is eat healthy and stay fit, make a routine, have a to-do-list, have timely breaks, make “Me time” from family, keep tabs on your social media accounts, have frequent team meetings, and make sure you have a stress-free environment.
